What Is in Your Hand? Moving from Excuse to Encounter

The Minstrel’s Note

If you happened to stumble upon this post while searching for a deeper meaning or a way out of a "stuck" season, you aren't here by accident.
It is time to put our faith to work, proving God is the God of all gods. We are contending for His love and mercy for those who are captivated and enslaved—and that work starts with what you already possess.
If you missed the stream:

The Prophetic Architecture: The Theology of the Staff

In the desert, God didn't give Moses a new celestial weapon; He pointed to what was already there. Below, I have charted the Prophetic Architecture of this revelation. Use the art and the study below to ground what the Holy Spirit is speaking to your mission today.
Selah Series: A Guided Visual Activation by Jay Sandifer. A hand-drawn black pen and ink geometric design exploring Exodus 4:2, 'What is that in your hand?'. This piece by Jay Sandifer features the burning bush and a hidden shepherd’s staff integrated into desert and mountain motifs. Designed for meditation, worship arts education, and spiritual reflection.

Selah Series: A Guided Visual Activation

"Then the Lord said to him, 'What is that in your hand?' 'A staff,' he replied." — Exodus 4:2
The Goal: To move from the frustration of "not having enough" to the faith of "using what is already there."

Step 1: The Concealment (The Hidden Provision)

Fix your eyes on the complexity of the art. Notice how the staff isn't immediately obvious—it is woven into the very fabric of the desert dunes and the craggy mountains.
The Selah Moment: Often, we tell God we are "empty-handed" simply because our provision is camouflaged by our current environment (our "desert" or our "mountain"). Take a breath and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the tools that are already integrated into your life, even if they currently look like part of the scenery.

Step 2: The Identification (The Work of the Hand)

Look at the sharp, bold geometric lines and the delicate hatching. Just as these intentional marks create the hidden shape of the staff, your daily, "ordinary" discipline is the very thing God uses for deliverance.
The Selah Moment: You don't need a new miracle; you need a new perspective on the "ordinary" thing you are already holding. Realize that your gift, your instrument, or your voice is already linked to His eternal plan. It is not missing; it is merely waiting to be identified.

Step 3: The Proclamation (The Activation)

As you finally "find" the staff in the image, speak this truth out loud to activate your faith:
"I stop looking at other people's hands. I stop comparing my progress to theirs. I recognize that my provision is often hidden in plain sight, woven into the work I am already doing. I have everything I need to get started right now. What is in my hand is enough because God is in my breath."

Selah. (Pause and think of that.)

I. The Struggle: No More Excuses

Moses had a staff. He used it every day for his job, but he didn't realize it was the key to a nation's freedom. We often stall because we think we need more resources. But the Early Church Fathers saw the staff as a sign of the Cross—the ultimate tool of mercy. The "wood" you are already holding is what God will use to strike the rock and part the sea.

II. The Power: Proving God to be God

This is about more than just "getting by." This is about mission. God called Moses to get to work proving His power over all other gods. When you use what is in your hand, you aren't just doing a task; you are contending for the plans and purposes of a God who loves His people and wants to see them free from slavery.

The Mentor Connection: Learn the Sound

The anointing flows through the skills we practice. If you want to learn how to turn your "ordinary staff"—whether it’s the piano, drums, or guitar—into a tool for prophetic worship, come sit with us in the Academy.
